every word felt like pulling teeth
and i’m no tooth fairy
you said i wasn’t capable
I think our outlooks varied
It’s 2am in brooklyn just me and my pen
I feel stupid even saying this
you’re on my mind again
I know it’s morning where you are
you’re probably on your balcony writing poems
I bet none would mention me
I know it’s morning where you are
you put band aids on your gaping wounds
said it was easier than sharing
I can’t help but think I could’ve healed
20/20s a lot to carry
It’s 2am in brooklyn just me and my pen
I feel stupid even saying this
you’re on my mind again
I know it’s morning where you are
you’re probably on your balcony writing poems
I bet none would mention me
I know it’s morning where you are
I hope
one day i’ll have to think twice
just to remember your name
I hope
one day i’ll have to think twice
just to remember your name
It’s 2am in brooklyn just me and my pen
I feel stupid even saying this
you’re on my mind again
I know it’s morning where you are

(like) spring

it's all dark here the sky is low
I planted the seeds but my plants won't grow
my phone keeps ringing it must be fate
but my friends all live in a different state
tip toe in the kitchen light
shelves come together like a sunrise
floors feel like they're covered in snow
nowhere warm for me to go
and now I feel a way I never thought I would
this isn't what I was looking for
this isn't what I was looking for
it's what I've only had in dreams
laying in the grass
and your eyes
they shine like spring
the sun comes up earlier here
and the people don't say hello on the streets
I walk alone at night
and hear no parliament greet
my jungle grows as I watch the news
my voicemails go from one to two
I spent my time in a boxed up place
waiting for the sun to show her face
and now I feel a way I never thought I would
this isn't what I was looking for
this isn't what I was looking for
it's what I've only had in dreams
laying in the grass
and your eyes
they shine like spring
